Most of us have a shit ton of things in our lives that we ‘want to do’, as well as those things we have to do!
Perhaps you want to go to the gym more often, read more books this year or travel more frequently. On top of all that, you somehow also want to find a way to make some extra income.
Like most of us, you probably find yourself wishing you had more time (and money) to pursue the things you really want to do as well as the things you need to do?
Well, It’s no surprise that time management is important to achieving not only your daily goals but even more so for your side hustle goals as well!
I call it Side Hustle Management.
There are some crucial steps you must take in order to achieve good workload-balance.
So here’s what works for me.
The trick of running a successful side hustle while maintaining your daily routine (career, gym, relationships etc) is by actively defining your goals and consistently looking for inspiration.
You must create a clear plan BUT also be willing to pivot in order to achieve success.
As you define these steps and goals, preferably using a journal spreadsheet (I Like to Use Google Sheets) make sure to keep track of the things that consistently inspire you!
Maybe it’s subscribing to influencer channel in your niche or having a weekly 1-on-1 with a mentor. No matter the source it's incredibly important to get outside validation that your ‘Side Hustle’ deserves your time and energy.
This will help you to find pockets of time to achieve that work and life balance that will enable you to do the things you really want to do and achieve at this point in your life.
Once you’ve discovered what will keep you motivated and accountable it’s time to move on to defining an actionable strategy to carry out.
1. List Your Goals and Check-In weekly
All of us have goals that change regularly and that reflect other things going on in our life at the time. List your top 10–15 goals and prioritize them from important to least important. Include not only the goals you have to achieve but also the personal goals you want to achieve.

2. List Your Daily Schedule
Although we want more time in the day, all of us have 24 hours. We use some of these hours for sleep and some of these for work and recreation purposes. List down your daily schedule on google calendar and include the things you must do because they are a commitment. This may include work commitments or school sports commitments with the children.
TIP Use Google Calendars to plan out your days. Sit down at the beginning fo each month or week and plan your daily schedule. Accomplishing your goals is much easier when you can visualize them and get reminders. It may be a pain at first but the rewards will start to show.
3. Prioritize Your Personal Goals with Equal Priority as Work-Related Goals
Don’t minimize the time available to do the things you want to do, particularly if they are contributing to your life goals or wellbeing. Include family time and other essential life activities that require your time and attention.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: Keep to your schedule unless in an Emergency
In order for any of this to work, you need to develop a habit. Most people who create a daily schedule, keep to it for a while, but not long enough for it to become a habit.
Habits take around 3–4 weeks to form, so if you want your new approach to work and lifestyle to be maintained, you must protect it at all costs!
If you want to build a side hustle all while achieving your own personal and career goals, you must plan and protect them at all costs. Eventually, the changes you implement will become second nature, but until then, you need to stay in control of your time management.
